About Disability options Ghana

Championship through Sports competition

Disability Options Ghana is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides community based programs for the general health, physical, and socio-economic development of Persons with Disabilities in Ghana and to support the speedy implementation of the provisions of the Persons with Disability Act, 2006. Our organization is also guided by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The birth of Disability Options Ghana came as a dream to to Madam Anne Doe who was at the time unemployed. While waiting on the Lord and figuring out what to do next had an idea to gather people, most especially women, to train and challenge them through seminars. In July 2003, she offered to be a physiotherapist for the Rugby Football team of the Ghana Sports Association without salary.  Apparently, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sports Association was impressed with Anne Doe’s active involvement and tremendous participation and input to the team and offered her a position as Physiotherapy Personnel of the Association.

In 2004, she had the opportunity to travel to Greece with the Sports Association as their “Physio” Specialist for the Paralympic Game and other Matches. Out of this trip and other trips to South Africa and other Parts of the world, Anne, realized there is so much Talent in people with disability to be unearthed through sports. This moved her to Register “Disability Options Ghana” purposed to Discover and develop the potentials of the physically challenged especially in the area of “Celebral Palsy”.

Aside Disability sports, Disability Options Ghana (DO-GHANA) solicit for funds from the general public to reach out to families with disability challenges with Food and Healthcare. We have represented some of our charitable works in the achievement Page.
